Where were you able to find the data going back to 1985? I was only able find data as far back as 1995 at http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/brfss/page.asp?cat=OB&yr=1985&state=All#OB
The closest I could find was the listing of states binned into ranges of percentages, but not the actual numbers at http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/downloads/obesity_trends_2008.pdf
Hey Joe, unfortunately, the PDF is all I could find too. You might have to look elsewhere for obesity data pre-2008.
