Reducing the amount of product in a package seems to be a long time tradition with Supermarket items. For example - I'm not sure when a 'half gallon' of ice cream container started to hold less than 2 quarts but that's the kind of visualization I'd like to find.
Anyone know of data/visualizations for this - Perhaps for just a few common products (ice cream, cereal, etc.)?

Supermarkets are typically supplied by the distribution centers of their parent companies.they usually offer products at low prices by reducing their economic margins.

@22fbj - Just as some friendly advice if you decide to pursue this project... With rising costs an increased focus on being competitive to maintain marketshare, ice cream manufacturers had a decision to make: increase prices or get clever with packaging. I'll let you be the judge of who chose to do what. As a hint, be sure to include Blue Bell as one of the manufacturers to stand out as an outlier in your project.
