Sports infographic project.

  1. Flowing Dataians. I just finished up my first full size infographic poster project (www.infojocks.com) and am wondering what you guys think. For the next iteration I'm looking to continue to develop the charts/graphs/colors for clarity. Kind of took off with Tufte's sparklines and pushed it as far as I could. My interest in infographics is founded in design not statistics, so any input about the stastitical content is much appreciated. There is a gallery of the poster available here: http://www.infojocks.com/store.html and I uploaded a few pictures.

  2. @jsyingling good stuff. i really like the sports concept and will be interested to see where the infojocks project goes.

Some of the labels on the other shots feel a little crowded, because they're small and so many of them, but maybe it looks better on the 27x39 poster. I've also never been a big fan of non-interactive 3-D maps, but that could be just be me. I think I'd also group the sports together on that map instead of sorting by time. Number of titles by sports seems more interesting than the order in which they happened since we don't actually have real time units on the vertical.

    Overall-- really like it.

  3. All very good suggestions. The map is the thing I am most unhappy with at this point. Never really done any 3d renders before, so it's a struggle. I know the 3d part is a bit gratuitous, but was trying for a visual element. I think you're right about grouping by sport... was just trying to add an extra layer of information.

    Thanks for the comments, man.
