At Station X, we extract meaning from mountains of genomic data and make the results accessible to biomedical scientists and clinicians so they can use them to inform their healthcare decisions. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented software developer who loves to use pixels to provide insight into the structure and meaning of data. This person will translate complex large-scale scientific data sets into colors, shapes, lines, and interactive diagrams. This individual will have widespread impact within our organization and with our partners, and will have a major role in future product and strategy direction.
The successful candidate will our initiative to provide innovative and indispensable visualizations to our partners, working closely with our team to define appropriate graphical and interactive methods for displaying next-generation sequencing data. A custom data storage and management architecture may also be required to support optimal performance. This person will implement a browser-based application in HTML, using toolkits such as jQuery and jqPlot for dynamic data display. A background in biology, medicine, or another quantitative discipline is preferred but not required. This is a portfolio position, and successful candidates will be able to demonstrate appropriate past projects using one or more of the technologies listed below. The position will involve active participation in all stages of product life cycle including product definition, specifications, design, development and SQA Therefore, the ability to communicate effectively and document appropriately are essential, as is working experience with an agile development methodology.

Ability to interact effectively with experts (e.g. to elicit product requirements, user acceptance) and within small, highly functional team
JavaScript: significant implementation experience in jQuery, Dojo, or Sencha.
Web services: implementation experience with JSON, XML-RPC, REST or SOAP.
Data analysis: visualizations involving millions of data points, and the appropriate methods for translating and filtering large data sets into compact, usable graphical representations.
