Restaurant survey data

  1. Hi everyone,

I'm new to this field and am hoping you can help me with some ideas, links, etc.

I am now working at a large restaurant review company that has a ton of great statistics about people's restaurant-going habits and opinions, as well as a decent amount of data on the survey-takers themselves.

I'm trying to think of what would be a really cool way to visualize the data and make it public (obviously without anyone's personal info) in a way that people would find fun and interesting. Are the re any examples people can send me to that are somewhat similar... to get the brain going and even help sell the idea to the higher-ups?

    Thanks so much!

  2. Hi shwirtz,

Since you mentioned restaurant data, my thought is of the Feltron personal annual reports. Nicholas Felton does a great job of showing interesting patterns in daily behavior, including what kind of food and restaurants he enjoys.

The other reference that immediately comes to mind is Knowledge Cartography. I suspect your data might benefit from cluster analysis?

Good luck, sounds like an exciting project!

  3. It usually helps me to start with the most basic and the work from there... so like rankings, I guess to begin and then something more extravagant. I mean, really, anything with ratings could work for you. So maybe something like this netflix viz?

    or Amazon?
