Initial 2 month contract - Onsite work
I head up a Business Intelligence team here at Business Link North West based in Preston. Our organisation is publicly funded and non profit making, and we are charged with helping small and medium sized businesses in the North West. All our interactions with businesses are recorded on our CRM system; additionally we also take a feed of all North West businesses from Experian which we join to our database; this gives over 200 additional metrics to report against (e.g. company credit risk, demographics, classifications etc.).
The team generates reports, analysis and intelligence for:
Internal performance monitoring in the organisation
Contractual reporting to our parent company the North West Development agency and other government sources such as MP questions
Local Authorities and Business Groups in the North West using our BPI (Business Performance Index) data
We currently use Business Objects 3.1, xCelsius 2008 (Flash based dashboards), Live Office 2007 (links from Business Objects to Office), ESRI (a GIS tool) and SharePoint 2007. We are also exploring Business Objects Explorer (a dynamic tool for Business Users) and Performance Point (Microsoft’s visualisation framework).
We are looking for an enthusiastic technically minded individual with a creative flair to help us create cutting edge data visualisations using cutting edge tools. No particular grasp of the technologies is needed as training will be given, but if you have any previous experience or interest in a visually creative area that would be an advantage. You will be fully supported, leaving you free to make the data look as intuitive and as visually impressive as possible!
