Wow, these are quite nice.
One thing that I immediately notice is the true "island of blue" nature of Atlanta, GA (a very liberal city in a very conservative state). It's there in each of the visualizations;(either by total population or population density.
The use of transparency in non-geographic visualizations is also under-explored IMO.
