Greetings, i've been trying to edit heatmap data from the R environment in adobe illustrator. The quality of the heatmap looks great coming out of R, but when I open it up in illustrator it looks dim. Changing the stroke from 1 to 0 helps. However, when I insert these files into powerpoint, they still look dim, not nearly as sharp as they coming straight from R. I'm new to illustrator, any comments/suggestions would help. Thanks!

Could be PDF rendering differently across software. Did you try saving the PDF as an image file in Illustrator?

coming out of illustrator, try saving the heatmap in a jpeg format using file->export
