We are currently seeking an experienced Data Visualization and Interaction Expert. This position requires the ability to communicate visually the content of data sets. Candidates will have the opportunity to set company design standards for printed, software, and web products.
Our Company, based in the DC Metropolitan area, is a non-profit government contractor engaging in research and development that joins advanced computational research and various disciplines of physical science, social science, and engineering to produce customized technical work for customers. The computing environment is Mac and Linux based. We offer challenging work assignments and an outstanding compensation and benefits package.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Write programs to manipulate and display large volumes of data
• Present research results in visual form
• Edit and improve vector and pixel graphics created by others
• Use probability and statistics to understand data sets
• Describe and apply graphics design concepts
• Develop automated ways to clearly display data stored in databases
• Help typeset large text collections
• Help improve user interfaces
• Create presentations
TECHNICAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Proficiency in Java or Processing.
• Proficient with Illustrator and Photoshop
• Knowledge of SQL.
• Comfortable in the UNIX environment.
• Knowledge of Mathematica
EDUCATION:
A graduate degree, or equivalent, in science or mathematics with a strong artistic blend, or a degree in art or architecture with programming and data experience
