Collection of Government or Public Data

  1. Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a list of all the sites government or public data can be located. I've looked at data.gov, but it doesn't seem to be very thorough.

I know individual departments have data available (census, bureau of labor and statistics). What I'm looking for is just some type of list that has all the sites like these that make their data available. I guess a reference to any type of resource of available data would be useful.

Any help would be appreciated, as I'll be using this for my capstone project.

    Thanks!

  2. Also this site from the U of Wisc
    http://www.disc.wisc.edu/newcrossroads/links.asp?cat=Data+Extraction+Tools+and+Methodology

Very nicely annotated. And besides, where I found out about this site.

  3. The Census Bureau has a lengthy list of stats and reports issued by other government agencies: http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/guide_to_sources.html
