  1. HI all!!

I am doing a Final Year Project for my Computing and Information System degree program and I am interested in doing a project in the area of Data visualization with particular attention to Visualization algorithm and techniques.

The problem is that this is a completely new area to me and I have no idea where to begin. Does anyone have any advice as to what books, websites or resources that would be helpful to me at this time?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Well I'm tempted to say this site owners book 'Visualize This' is a good place to start having just finished reading it myself.

Perhaps you could indicate what programming, if any, you have done so that someone could respond with something more specific.

Also do you have to deliver the work in a specific format such as a website?

  3. Thanks for the suggestion Matto.
Right now I have no limit as to what format I have to use to deliver the data since it's for a course.

Im skilled in C, C++, Java, little PHP and lots of interest in Python.

having decided to go ahead and use Processing to crete the visualization, I am now trying to find a relevant, computer science related topic to visualize

  4. If you're gonna go with Processing, you can't go wrong with the book by the creators, Reas and Fry. The book by Daniel Shiffman is good, too.

  5. Now I need to find ideas that would be considered fantastic by academic standards.

Please post ideas here and I will also check through the forums here!

    THANKS ALL!

  6. If you are going to be uploading a Processing app to a website it would be wise to check with the people hosting it that they are happy with it being on their server - they may wish to check the code first for potential problems.

  7. Well it kind of depends on what the project topic is. But always start with the data and look for a topic you're interested in, and go from there.

  8. Heres a list of some Processing tutorials which I am slowly working my way through - some video others html. A book is best for reference while coding but these may help to give a fast intro:
