I don't have a ton of experience in that area, but I would approach it as a problem in sampling and experimental design and then read up on those areas.

It's not so much a question of correcting the database as it is figuring out a way to compare groups that are different in demographics. So... some way to normalize the data.

In preparation for my 3rd interview, my potential employer asked me to do some data analysis. I am unsure about what he is looking for on one aspect of the assignment. I've asked twice now for clarification and received two vague explanations. Fearing that a third inquiry will damage my odds of employment, I thought I'd turn to this forum to get some outside help.

Suppose you have a database of companies from 5 countries. Suppose in one month the number of companies in one of the countries doubles while the rest remain the same. The assignment is asking me how to "correct the database in Feb to make it similar to the representation of companies in the Jan database?"

In simpler terms he gave me the following: "Say you ask two groups of 10 kids about which ice cream they like. The first group is made up of 7 boys and 3 girls. The second group is made up of 3 boys and 7 girls. How can you ‘correct’ for the difference between the two groups so I can compare the results to know preferences for ice cream."

Does anyone know what technique he is looking to use when he says the term "correct"?
