Hi,

I'm currently looking for a Data Visualization specialist on behalf of my client in London, a leading rich media advertising agency. They work on large (30 billion ads+) campaigns and are looking for someone to help visualize the data from these campaigns - ideally 2D and 3D renders. There is a lot of scope for you to be creative, come up with new ideas and push boundaries. This company have a track record of innovation and they're looking for someone who can help keep them ahead of their competitors.

You'll need creativity, an eye for detail and the ability to work with large datasets to create stunning, innovative visualizations. You will need good mathematical skills, in particular statistical analysis. Within reason you can use whatever tools you see fit, but it's likely that you will be familiar with things like JavaScript, Flash, Silverlight, Direct3D/OpenGL, Google Maps API etc.

This is a full-time permanent role based in central London so you must be eligible to work in the UK. Unfortunately my client will not consider contractors/freelancers or remote workers.

If you are interested in finding out more, please contact me at sam.brown@engagepsg.co.uk. It would be great if you could provide a few examples of data visualizations you've created along with a copy of your CV.

Not too surprising, since a lot of their statisticians are from the people who developed S and S-Plus.

Google recently put up a style guide for R:

http://google-styleguide.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/google-r-style.html

I guess Google is a fan of R.

For people looking for a free ajax chart api, I recently ran into another offering at http://chart.inetsoft.com. It looks quite interesting and seems to support more types of charts with a large ajax api. Worth a look.

I have been testing out Amazon SimpleDB. It seems pretty sweet with plenty of potential for data storage or as a data cloud

@charrington - Maybe Swivel or Numbrary is what you're after? DabbleDB is also really good and more flexible. It's a user-friendly database that you can also use with web applications if you like. To go all the way tech, there's the free MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.

I am looking for a place for data. I've been using Google Docs along with the visualization tools. And I've played around with Many Eyes. But I have this nagging feeling that there is something better out there that I don't know about. Was Goolging around and found this forum (which is excellent by the way!) and thought it would be frequented by people who have the same need.
